Howard "Smokey" Marshall passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 in the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre at the age of seventy eight years. Howard is survived by his wife Darlene Marshall; brothers and sisters: Mel (Gwen) Marshall, Elmer (Audrey) Marshall, Margaret (Lyle) Walker, Doreen (George) Swinburne, Wally (Betty) Marshall, Leonard (Sharon) Marshall, Jean (Sherwin) Flanders and Larry Marshall; sister in law Diane Marshall; uncle Ken; aunt Esther; Darlene's family, daughter Heather (Greg) Williams; sister Gloria (Orest) Kolenchuk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Howard was predeceased by his mother Fern; father Dave; brother Stan and companion Georgia Savage. A memorial service for the late Mr. Howard "Smokey" Marshall was held on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta with Reverend Jack Schulze officiating. Memories of Smokey's life were presented by Jim McKnight. Special music played during the service was Pass Me Not by the Statler Brothers, Softly and Tenderly and Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill. Family and friends gathered in the Heartland Fellowship hall for a time of sharing and light refreshments prepared and served by the Nevis Community Club.
