Helmut Landman passed away peacefully at the Stettler General Hospital following a battle with cancer.


Helmut was born in Provost, Alberta, to Martin and Anna Marie Landman, grew up and was raised on a farm in that community. Following high school he entered the University of Alberta in Edmonton where he was granted Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law degrees.


In 1964, Helmut married his high school friend and sole-mate Theresa (Terry) Mielke. In that same year, he transferred articles of law from his principal, Raymond Bradley of Edmonton, to Robyn Sloan of the Stettler law firm Sloan & MacNaughton and in 1965 Helmut was admitted to the bar of the Law Society of Alberta. A short time later he joined the Stettler law firm Sloan MacNaughton & Landman and continued to practice law in Stettler until his passing.


During Helmut Landman's life in Stettler he was heavily involved in community life serving in various capacities on a myriad of committees, sporting and service organizations.


Helmut is survived by his wife of 47 years Theresa (Terry), his sister Gertha Landman, sister-in-law Martha Landman, sister-in-law Janet Smith, and brother-in-law Peter Mielke. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Marie, his brother Francis and he will be remembered and missed by many other relatives and a host of friends.


At Helmut's request there will be no funeral or memorial service.
