HEGBERG - Harold Rolland passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at the Stettler Health Care Centre at the age of 83 years. Harold was born on Jan. 27, 1925 in Patience, AB, to John and Arvilla Hegberg. He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 62 years, Valerie, his four children Linda (Rolly), Bill (Debbie), Bob (Jonni) and Barb Ruby. Harold was a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Shelly (Colin), John, Alyssa (Trevor), Stephen (Jennifer), Chris (Terry), T.J., Rob (Laura), Jason (Sara) and Jennifer (Jim). He was also very proud of his 15 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Dylan, Brett, Morley, Katrina, Brady, Darcy, Ashlynn, Lindsey, Bryant, Tanner, Jordan, Taylor, Maison and Naomi. Harold has one surviving brother Gordon and one sister-in-law Eva Hegberg, as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and many, many friends. He was a hard working and fun loving family man who was well respected by all who knew him. Any spare time in the summer months was spent on the golf course with family and/or golf buddies. Harold was known as a “Living Legend” at the Stettler Elks Golf and Country Club and received a trophy for same. He also loved curling, playing pool, playing cards and singing while playing his Gibson guitar. Over the years he entertained numerous friends and family. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan all his life, as well as a dedicated Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. Even though he struggled with cancer over the past four years, he never lost his sense of humour. A day didn’t go by without him telling a joke or two, or just having something witty to say. Harold was predeceased by his father John Hegberg, his mother Arvilla Hegberg, sisters Marjorie, Helen, Doreen and brothers Paul, John and George. Harold will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A funeral services was held on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 in the Heartland Chapel of the Stettler Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Denholm officiating.
