GERTRUDE THIEME

Gertrude Thieme, a former long-time resident of Stettler passed away at the aged of 87 on May 20, 2017 at the Bethany Meadows Care Facility in Camrose. She was born in Botha, and graduated from Stettler High School. Gertrude, also known as Gertie, was very involved in the Stettler community most of her life. She served on the town council, was active in numerous organizations and clubs. She volunteered for most of her life even after retirement from her

Business, the Busy Bee Food Store. Gertie enjoyed board games, playing crib, reading the paper and card games on the computer. Sadly she developed Alzheimer's disease late in her retirement. She was living in Camrose until her death. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Herb, a daughter

Evelyn, a son Bryon, and a grandson Steven. She is survived by three children, David (Karen) of Saskatoon, Martin of Cochrane, and Karen (Jim) of Camrose, three grandchildren, Robyn (Tanya) of Stettler, Sharmane (Corey) of Ohaton, and Shelena (Tracy) of Calgary, four great grandchildren, Julie, Dakota, Trayton, and Xavier. There will be no funeral service. The family will have a private gathering to honor her life. In memory of Gertrude a donation can be made to the charity of your choice. Thank you from the family.
