PIVERT, George

George Pivert passed away suddenly on October 5, 2016 at Stettler Hospital Complex at the age of 84. He was born to Robert and Annie Pivert on the family farm at Fenn on September 6, 1932. In June of 1950 he was hired as a driver at Esso and never left until he retired some 45 years later.

George married Kathryn (Kay) Sundset in 1955. They lived in Stettler until 1974 when they moved to Rochon Sands where George was the Mayor for 15 years and served several more years on council. They eventually moved back to Stettler and, after Kay's passing, George moved into Heart Haven where he enjoyed many years before moving to Points West Living in May of 2016.

The family enjoyed camping and were a part of Stettler Heart of Alberta Trailer Club as well as many other clubs. Here they met many people and established life-long friendships. Winter was spent snowmobiling until George semi-retired and he and Kay became snowbirds. Yuma was their home away from home. George loved music, dancing, golfing and playing cards.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children; Theresa Thiessen, Ken (Kathy) Pivert, Doug (Colleen) Pivert; grandchildren, Rob (Heather) Hutchinson, Andrew Hutchinson, Cody (Kelsey) Pivert, Kevin (Nikki) Pivert, Renee (Ryan) Miller, Toni (Troy) Wiggins, Nadine Pivert, James (Jessica) Pivert; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Julia, Adria, Tyler, Rowan, Denton, Elizabeth, Cooper, Layna, Morgan, Makenna, Jordan, Jaxson, Charlie; sisters, Cecelia Hunter, Lucy Hicks and numerous other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Kay in 2002 and son Donald in 1986 as well as sister Marguerite Dewald.

A funeral service was held October 11 at the Christ-King Catholic Church in Stettler.
