February 27, 1947 - December 23, 2018
On Sunday, December 23, 2018, Gaila Pasula came to her journey's end at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre, Stettler, Alberta after an exhausting battle with cancer amongst other health issues.

Gaila leaves behind her husband of 36 years, David Pasula of Stettler, one daughter Simone Morrison, of Red Deer, granddaughter Bella Morrison of Red Deer, brother Charles Barry Dylke of High River, brother-in-law Dallas (Cindy) Pasula of Spruce Grove, brother-in-law Dwayne Pasula of Stettler, brother-in-law Doug Pasula of Elkford, sister-in-law Dolores (Cyril) Paquin of Sylvan Lake, many extended family members and many dear friends.

Her parents, Simon and Sarah Dylke, brother Simon Ronald Dylke, sister-in-law Sheila Dylke, and sister-in-law Lynda Pasula predeceased Gaila.

Gaila was born in Calgary, Alberta on February 27, 1947 to Simon and Sarah Dylke. Gaila grew up living on various farms and ranches around Alberta, her final home as a teenager was the historical Bar U Ranch.

Gaila's youth brought a love for horses and music. Anyone who knew Gaila hopefully had the opportunity to experience her powerful singing talent. Anyone who met Gaila instantly loved her and her beautiful smile; no matter what was happening, she would always take the time to have a chat showing her sparkling personality.

Throughout her life, Gaila worked in various fields, from oilfield, to draperies, to operating a Fas Gas (fondly known as "Aunty La La" during that time), to front end management at Extra Foods. In her retirement years, Gaila and David had the wonderful opportunity to spend the winters as snowbirds in Punta Perula, Mexico. Gaila had an incredible bond with her daughter Simone and granddaughter Bella; a bond that can never be replaced. Of course this connection extended to Simone's Muffy dog aka Muffin Man.

We will all dearly miss Gaila.

A special thank you to Dr. Drummond, the staff at Stettler Hospital and the Cancer Centre in Red Deer for their exceptional care and compassion.

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.

A celebration of Gaila's life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charitable organization of your choice c/o Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium, P.O.
