SOLTERMANN

Fred Robert

June 4, 1931 - Aug. 25, 2010

Fred, greatly loved father, and grandfather passed away in the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre on Aug 25, 2010, after a 3 month battle with Leukemia at the age of 79 years. Fred was born in Toronto Ontario. He grew up in the Port Credit region before moving to the Revenue Saskatchewan area. Fred moved to Tail Creek Ranch with his wife Julaine in the late fifties where he started to raise world famous Polled Hereford cattle and started farming. In the early seventies, Fred and companion Pauline brought The Mud Bog association to The Tail Creek Raceway. Fred's absolute dedication to seeing the smiles of friends and families was what introduced the Tail Creek Raceway to the community in the late seventies. Always young at heart and in spirit, Fred was an avid collector and restorer of vintage motorcycles which led him to be part of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle club. Alberta's oil and gas industry provided Fred with a fulfilling career until he reluctantly retired from a long career with his last position being Jiro Enerflex in 2009 at the age of 78 years. He loved the work he knew how to do so well and the great social interaction that went with it. Fred took quiet time from his highly active life doing such things as fishing, snowmobiling, and travelling to Maui with family. Fred is survived by his partner Marion Doran, and her daughter Lisa Kidd; sons, Robert Soltermann, Jason and (Nicole) Jahner, daughter; Shari and (Andy) Gelinas, extended family; Brandy Jahner, Marlow (Darius)Hofer, Kelly (Donna)Jahner, Grandchildren, Shaeleigh and Jaron and numerous others including one great grandchild. He is also survived by his nephew Max, (Vicky) Soltermann, All the Tail Creek Raceway Family, and many other special friends. A celebration of Fred's life will be held at the Nevis Community Hall on Saturday September 4, 2010 at 2:00 pm. There will be an opportunity to share memories of special times with Fred. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O. Box 193 Stettler, Alberta TOC 2LO who are entrusted with the care and arrangements.
