Ethel Doreen Borek

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our dear mother, nana and friend, Ethel Doreen Borek of Stettler, Alberta. Ethel was taken from us after a late term diagnosis of cancer followed with further health complications, she passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 2, 2020.
She was met by her beloved husband Jim to shepherd her into the heavenly realm. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Diana (Wayne) Slemp, Bettyanne (Dan) Measures, stepchildren Tony Borek and Jon Orton, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ethel was born the sixth of seven children to Albert and Louisa Sargent. She grew up on a farm in the Alix area. Ethel and Jim ran a purebred limousine cattle operation and grain farm in Stettler for many years until Jim's accident in 1991 when they built a house and moved into town.
Ethel spent many happy years working at the Stettler Hospital with great friends. In 2018 she moved into Willow Creek Lodge where she continued making great friends. Ethel had a strong work ethic and a very kind heart. She loved to listen to music and enjoyed good company as well as thoughtful discussion on world events Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ethel chose to have no formal funeral service but there will be a celebration of life luncheon honouring her at the Stettler Funeral Home on Sunday, January 12, 2020 between 2 and 4 pm.
Memorial contributions in Ethel's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
