BOEHLKE

Esther "Bunnie" Lena

1915 - 2010

On July 20, 1915 Esther Lena better known as Bunnie came into this world on the family farm - her father assisted with the delivery. She was the fifth child born to Edward and Lena Schultz. Bunnie attended school in her early years at Summerhill then later finished her schooling at Endiang. On February 28, 1934 she married the love of her life Reinhold Boehlke. They worked hard on their farm in the early years of their marriage and in 1936 their only child Maxine (Mickey) was born. Bunnie and Reinhold continued farming at Endiang until 1949 and then purchased a farm at DeWinton with Reinhold's brother Gust. They only stayed at DeWinton for 4 years then moved back to Endiang and continued farming. When Reinhold passed away in 1998 Bunnie moved to Hanna to live in Manor II for 8 years. When her health failed she moved over to the Lodge in 2008 and then on to the Extended Care there in Hanna in 2009. Bunnie was a hard worker along side her husband milking cows, working in the fields, stooking bundles and many other necessary chores that came with farming in those years. She enjoyed Bible study and attending church at the Open Bible Fellowship Church at Endiang. In the early 1970s she took up playing badminton with the group of younger folks at the Endiang hall and then when floor curling began she took a real interest in that as well. She excelled at floor curling even when her eyesight grew dim with macular degeneration. Bunnie was predeceased by her husband Reinhold; her parents Edward and Lena; brother Elmer and his wife Tootey; brother Jack and his wife Florence, sister Elsie and her husband Tommy Moen; sister May and her husband Morg Kenny; and sister Billie (Lillian) and her husband Gust Boehlke. She is survived by her loving daughter Mickey and son-in-law Clifton Tucker; three grandsons Dale (Florence) Tucker; Glen (Theresa) Tucker, Lee (Christine) Tucker. 8 great grandchildren, Darcy (Shannon); Brian (Alison); Dwight (Heather); Michael (Sarah); Lindsay (Adam); Christopher; Matthew; and Amanda; and 14 great-great grandchildren. On November 2, 2010 at the Extended Care in Hanna with her daughter by her side Bunnie went to be with her Lord. Funeral services at Endiang Hall on November 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Family interment at Endiang Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Endiang Cemetery Box 321 Endiang Alberta T0J1G0 or to the charity of choice.
