Elva Kathleen Gravely passed away October 11, 2016 at Heritage House at the age of 91 years. Kay was born in Hospers, Iowa on July 2, 1925, the fourth child of Grover Martin and Mary Eva Walgenbach. She grew up in the Gadsby area, went to school at the Big Knife School and took her high school in Stettler. She then went to Calgary to pursue the only profession she was passionate about, nursing. She graduated from the three year RN program at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary in 1948. Many times pulling out her suitcase from under the bed to pack and go home to her horse Dixie and the country quiet. Mom married Tommy Gravely, Christmas of 1948 and went back to Gadsby. Four children were born Susan, Marty, Guy and Robin. She went back to her profession when Robin started school and retired in 1986. She enjoyed family, animals of all kinds and gardening with her brother Tim. Predeceased by her husband Tommy; her parents; her sister Goldie (Paul) Charles; brothers: Bill, Tim, Hally and Stan. Kay is survived by her children: Susan (Larry) Strandquist, Marty (Louise), Guy (Beverly) and Robin (Gwenda); grandchildren: Halley (Travis), Marley (Devin), Katelynn, Sara (Tyrell), Nicole (Jamie), Mark (Katelyn), Julie, Andy and Jeff; numerous great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. A private family interment took place at Omega Cemetery, Gadsby on October 14, 2016, where she was laid to rest beside her husband Tommy. A luncheon was held at the Botha Senior Centre, Botha where family and friends gathered for a time of sharing stories, memories and refreshments served by the Botha UCW.
