Elizabeth HANER

HANER (Resler) - Elizabeth Evelyn was born Sept. 2 at Ferry Point, AB. Her family moved to Bashaw, AB. She met and married Reinhard Resler and they raised a family of four children. Reinhard was an elevator agent and they farmed as well. After his passing in 1964, Evelyn worked in Bashaw until she met Bill Haner and they married Feb. 14, 1972. Evelyn moved to Red Willow, AB where she became “Mom” to Bill’s six children and together they enjoyed their blended family. In 1986 they retired to Stettler. Evelyn was always a very active volunteer and participant in the church and community. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who was loved for her friendliness, integrity, and hospitality. Evelyn passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years at the Stettler Hospital Palliative Care Unit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Bancroft of Westlock, AB, Lorne (Linda) Haner of Red Willow, Glen (Denise) Haner of St. Albert, AB, Yvonne (Doug) Turigan of Coaldale, AB and Lois (Terry) Wells of Stettler, AB; as well as 35 beloved grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Haner, Mabel Simon, Winnie Simon and Norah Crawford; numerous other family members and many friends. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Agnes Crawford; husband Reinhard Resler in 1964; husband William Haner in 2006; brother Robert Crawford; sisters, Margaret (Casey) Irwin and Isabella (Edvern) Brown; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Stettler United Church, Stettler, AB with Rev. David Denholm officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Stettler United Church or the Red Willow Cemetery, c/o Stettler Funeral Home.
