Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty " Bernice Kobi passed away on April 18, 2010 at Stettler, Alberta at the age of 90 years. She attended school at the Harry Hill School near Byemoor. In March of 1937, Betty married Bill Kobi and together they farmed in Byemoor, Scollard, Donalda and Rumsey areas. They loved to entertain and you were always welcome for a wonderful meal or just a cup of coffee and a nice visit. Betty was an excellent cook and had the opportunity to share her gift while cooking in the Big Valley Hotel, work Camps and also in the Ft. Saskatchewan nursing home where Betty lived for a period of time. Betty's most treasured moments were spending time with her children and grandchildren and always held her family very dear. She was a very special lady and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Betty is survived by her loving children Yvonne Kobi of Edmonton, Dale (Joy) Kobi of Stettler, Donna (Gerry) Rasmussen of Sherwood Park and Lyle (Ruth) Kobi of Red Deer. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was predeceased by her husband Bill Kobi in 1994 and brothers Alan Hayes and Edward Amyotte. A funeral service was held at the Christ-King Catholic Church in Stettler on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M with Father Arlan Parenteau officiating. Words of Remembrance were presented by Patty Beatty and Meloni Jordan. The Active Pallbearers were Betty's grandsons Kevin Kobi, Wayne Lausen, Terry Lausen, Danny Lausen, Kenny Lausen and Kerry Rasmussen. The Honorary Pallbearers were her granddaughters Patty Beatty, Tammy Stacey, Meloni Jordan, Toni Van Landuit, Janine Kobi and Amanda Newlands. Following the funeral service, family and friends gathered at the Stettler Legion Hall for a time of fellowship and light refreshments which was graciously prepared by members of the Stettler Catholic Women's League. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Betty, memorial contributions may be made to the Byemoor Cemetery or to a charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
