October 22, 2017

Oct 14, 1937 - Oct 22, 2017
Betty passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Betty had been diagnosed with cancer in early July. Betty had been in a hospice bed and receiving excellent care on the Norwood Palliative Unit in Edmonton since she left the Royal Alexandra Hospital on August 14, 2017.

Betty was born in Nelson, BC on Oct. 14, 1937. She spent her childhood years living with her parents and siblings in Proctor BC, right beside the Kootenay Lake. She spoke often of her very happy childhood, cooking with her Mom, exploring, and her favorite childhood pastime, swimming in the lake. When she was 17 years old, Betty moved to Calgary and started work at a Wells Fargo branch in the financial industry.

In 1958 she was introduced to Allan Wark by a mutual friend and they were married on July 4, 1959. At the time they were renting farmland near Carstairs, Alberta and children soon followed: Douglas Allan in June, 1960. Leslie Ann in November, 1962. Janet Margaret in September, 1964.

In 1967 the whole family moved north to purchase their own farm east of Stettler in the Botha area. Dean Hamilton was born in September, 1969. The family was on that farm until 1989 when Allan and Betty moved to Red Deer.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Allan in 1991, and by her brother Frankie and sister Carol. She was also predeceased by her parents Frank and Helen Bonacci. Betty remained in Red Deer until June of this year when she moved to Edmonton for medical treatment.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her but especially by her children, Doug (Cheryl) Wark, Leslie (Ray) Wasdal, Janet (Brent) Schulze and Dean (Monica) Wark. She will also be missed by her sisters Jean Brady and Sue (Mike) Paulhus as well as her brother George Bonacci.

She will also be dearly missed by her Grandchildren, BJ (Charlene) Schulze, Brianne (Mike) Rothfus, Stephanie (Dan) Alstad, Darby (Josh) Meyer, Haley Wasdal, Levi Wark, Olivia Wark, Caleb Wark, Liam Wark and Claire Wark. As well as great grandchildren Lincoln, Bentley, Quinn, Andrew and Logan.

There will be a Celebration of Life in honour of Betty on November 9, 2017 at 2 PM at the Stettler Community Hall, 5101, 46 Ave in Stettler Alberta.
