LAMOUREUX

Mrs. Edmay

May 16, 1928 - March 3, 2010

Mrs. Edmay Lamoureux a long time resident of Stettler, passed away March 3, 2010 at Our Lady Of The Rosary Hospital in Castor, Alberta at the age of 81 years. Edmay was born to Edmund and Laura Lamontange in the small Southern Saskatchewan farming town of Lisieux. Edmay graduated from High School from a Catholic convent in Assinaboina, SK. And after completing school, she worked as a telephone operator for a time. In 1951, Edmay met and married Fernand Lamoureux in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. In 1953 Edmay and “Frenchie” left for Central Alberta. The family first moved to the Castor-Halkirk area and then relocated to Stettler in the late fifties. Over the last 56 years, Edmay became a Mother to 12, a Grandmother to 12, and a Great-grandmother to 3. Edmay was a very devoted member of the Christ-King Catholic Church and it was very very seldom that she missed attending Sunday Service. Edmay always kept busy and volunteered for many organizations including the Catholic Womans League, The Superfluity Second Hand Store, Meals on Wheels and the Handibus. Through everything, Edmay had a green thumb and could often be found in her garden or the flower beds whenever she could. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and neighbors. A funeral Mass was held at the Christ-King catholic Church on Saturday, March 6, 2010 with Father Arlan Parenteau as Celebrant. Following the interment in the Lake View Cemetery, family and friends gathered at the Christ-King Parish Hall where the Catholic Women’s League prepared a wonderful lunch for Edmay’s family and friends. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Edmay, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
