ADOLF

Douglas Emil Adolf was born September 9, 1960. He passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the age of 51 years. His early life was spent on the family farm north of Fleet. Due to the untimely death of his father in 1966, Doug and his mother moved to the home in Castor where he continued to live the rest of his life. Doug was a true outdoorsman. He worked and played in the outdoors. Friends remember the quad rides he enjoyed with them. Doug loved working with large equipment and road construction became his chosen career. He was a highly skilled conscientious worker who was always valued by his employer and fellow workers, not only for his work ethic but also for his good nature. Doug's family was important and he was a devoted caregiver to his mother in her final years. Doug's life was characterized by hard work and loyalty to family and friends. His friends describe him as a good neighbour and a true gentleman. He will be missed by many. Doug is survived by his family: Lorraine (Edwin - deceased) Adolf, Edith (George) Kopp, Roberta Boss, Herb - deceased (Ardena) Zinger, Lawrence (Ethel) Zinger, George "Dudley" (Eileen) Zinger; other family and many friends. Funeral services were held at Knox United Church on Monday, January 9, 2012 with Rev. Barbara Zimmerman officiating. Organist Cathy Schaffner played for the congregational hymns and for the Knox United Church Choir as they sang "Peace in the Valley." Mr. Leslie Wetter gave a tribute of Doug's life to all those in attendance. Interment was at Castor Municipal Cemetery with Pallbearers being Trevor Timm, Tod Schnell, Kevin Bowen, Clifford Weeks, Daryl Hussey and Leslie Wetter. Honorary Pallbearers were Lawrence and Ethel Zinger, Edith and George Kopp, Ardena Zinger, Roberta Boss, Irene Seth, Wendy Dunkle, Judy Hall, Audrey Timm, Josie Neilson and "All of Doug's many friends." Friends gathered in the upper hall of Knox United Church for a time of fellowship and a luncheon by the U.C.W. Condolences may be sent to the family at
