KEOUGH, Dorothy Madeline

1933 - 2009

Dorothy was born in Spruce Lake, Saskatchewan on February 22, 1933 and passed away at her home on September 27, 2009 at the age of 76 years. She attended Normal School in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to become a teacher. She taught grades one through nine in the Saskatoon area. Dorothy married Frank James Keough on April 27, 1953. Together they raised a family of 13 children - "the baker's dozen!" Dorothy and Frank moved often during their lives. Frank was employed by Canadian National Railways as an agent operator and was posted throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. They spent a number of years in Byemoor, Alberta, Battleford, Saskatchewan, Bonnyville, Alberta and settled in Mirror, Alberta where they retired. Dorothy worked as the town librarian in Mirror for eight years. Dorothy lived her life of faith and journeyed with her Lord each and every day of her life. She was active in the CWL, Parish Council and Altar Society. She was also active in senior sports. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank of Mirror; children: Colleen Godziuk of Grande Prairie, Daniel (Darlene) Keough of Edmonton, Janette (Brian) Balash of Myrnam. Kathleen (Denis) Dubeau of Bonnyville, Shawn (Lynn) Keough of Calgary, Maureen (Chuck) Neill of Morinville, Lauretta (Phil) Avram of Red Deer, Juanita Keough of Windsor, Ontario, Doyle (Deb) Keough of Red Deer, Martin Keough of Calgary, Gallagher Keough of Penhold, Kelly Keough of Calgary; daughter-in-law Mary Lynn Keough; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Gerald (Darlene) Jackson and sister Linda (Lawrence) Remarchuk; step-sisters Elaine (Norm) Clarke and Bernice Ali; and step-brother Glen (Wanda) Jackson. She was predeceased by her parents Linden and Celestine Jackson, oldest son James Keough (1999), brother Ken Jackson and step-brother Gary Jackson. Rest in Peace good and faithful servant. A Prayer Vigil was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Bashaw on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, the Diabetes Association, or to a charity of your choice.
