FOWLER

Doris Violet was born March 12, 1921 at Castor, Alberta. She was the fifth child of Harry and Celia Duncan. Her dad nicknamed her Toots as she was small like a Tootsie Doll.

Toots attended Leader School until Grade 11, at which time she moved to Halkirk to work for Earl Jackson at the Red and White Store. During this time, Toots along with her sister Jean and brother in law Henry Dahmer formed an orchestra and played for many dances in the area.

On November 22, 1946 she married Jim Fowler of Halkirk. They bought a farm two and a half miles south of Halkirk where she lived until retiring to Stettler in 2001. Toots loved the farming way of life and was an active member of the Halkirk Community. She was a member of the Sunny Circle Club, Royal Purple, Halkirk Hall Board and organized church services at the Halkirk Community Church. Toots enjoyed watching all sports, especially if her children or grandchildren were playing. Toots enjoyed discing and loved to walk.

Toots is survived by her son Dan (Clara) of Halkirk and her daughter Dixie (Steve Kossowan) of Cochrane; six grandchildren: Justin Fowler (Renée), Amanda Jackson (Steve), Dean and Lee Fowler, Chad and Lany Kossowan; two great grandchildren Brody and Kaylee Jackson; sisters Fern (Louie) Engel and Jean Plouvier; brothers Jimmy Duncan and Harry (Hazel) Duncan; all of the Duncan and Fowler families; other family and many dear friends. Toots will be dearly missed. Grama we love you to bits and pieces.
