Don died at age 82 on May 31st in Rocky Mountain House after contracting pneumonia. He was pre- deceased by his parents, Bob and Doris Wotherspoon. He is survived by three children, Lance Wotherspoon, Christine Malloy and Derek Flug, a step-daughter Shelley Stevenson, his sister, Pat Hatfield, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don suffered from the effects of a brain injury in mid-life and developed dementia in later life.
Despite his brain injury , he was able to carve out a life for himself, though not without difficulties. He spent many years in the oil industry but after the injury became a "jack-of-all trades", working both in Canada and the U.S.
For the past few years he settled happily into life in a lodge and then in long term care where he endeared himself to staff in both facilities. The family wishes to thank those staff persons both at Heart Haven in Stettler and Clearwater Centre in Rocky Mountain House for their kindness and caring.
