April 21, 1949 - January 31, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Doug McDavid announce his passing on January 31, 2023.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Georgianna (Pedlar); his sister Sharla; his son Christopher (Jill); his daughter Alison (Brian); and his five grandchildren Brooke, Jace, Brayden, Ethan and Luke. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Don and Jean McDavid, and brother-in-laws Ed Garries and Dick Pedlar.
Doug was a great man; a devoted husband and father who loved his family beyond all. He was so happy to be watching a baseball, hockey or ringette game, helping with math or science studies or working diligently at the farm, lake and in the garden. He was a dedicated teacher, educator and administrator and spent his 30-year career enriching the lives of countless students and teachers across Alberta. His Physics 30 classes were legendary because he brought enthusiasm and curiosity to a subject he loved to teach.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Edmonton Riverbend United Church on February 22 at 1:00 pm. The service will be shared virtually on the Riverbend United Church YouTube channel.
In lieu of flowers, Georgianna, Chris and Alison are accepting donations to support a Physics scholarship in honour of Doug McDavid at the W.E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus. https://gofund.me/ed236043 or piligrimshospice.com.
