RASMUSSEN

Dianna Lynne

1950- 2011

Dianna Lynne Rasmussen passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the age of 61 years. She is survived by her loving husband Per Rasmussen of Stettler, siblings; Donna (Ernie) Beesley of Calgary, Terry Schmidt of Seattle, Bruce Bernes of Stettler, Linda Jones of Olds and Brian (Diane) Bernes of Stettler. Father and Mother-in-law; Vagn (Anna) Rasmussen, brothers-in-law Bent (Vibsen) Rasmussen and Jorgen (Hanne) Rasmussen all of Denmark, nieces and nephews; Jamie, Cathy, Kelly, Bradley, Billy, Rex, Kerry, Karen, Sherry, Debbie, Bobby, Starla, Candace, Sandra, Janni, Lars, Peter, Henrik, Hidie and many very special friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents Holgar and Katherine Bernes, sister Bernice Ayres and brother Edward Dean. Dianna was born and grew up in Calgary. She attended Balmoral Elementary School and Crescent Heights High School. She moved to Vancouver in the early 70's where she was employed at Imperial Optical. While living in Vancouver, she met and fell in love with her future husband Per Rasmussen who had just recently immigrated to Canada from Denmark. Dianna and Per moved back to Calgary in 1976, following the rest of the family who had already returned to Calgary. Dianna worked for Motorola and then later for Palliser Furniture in Airdrie. Dianna and Per were married on May 5, 1979 in Denmark. Per's mother, father and brothers arranged all of the wedding details so that they could just show up and enjoy their special day. Their honeymoon was somewhat unusual as Dianna's Mom and Dad, Bruce and Shirley also went along. Their trip included such places as Norway, Denmark, Germany and Sweden and was enjoyed by all. Dianna has always enjoyed reading, music, crochet, knitting and craft sales. She also enjoyed bowling, camping and hiking, family reunions and just plain being with and visiting with her husband, family and friends. Dianna loved life and it showed. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with a reception immediately following in the Brennen Funeral Home reception area. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Dianna, memorial contributions may be made to STARS Air Ambulance or to the Canadian Cancer Society in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
