COOKE - Daisy (nee Ackeral) passed away suddenly in the morning of Aug. 24, 2008 at the age of 81. She has gone on to be with her husband Bill. Daisy was born in Rumsey, AB on March 3, 1927. She was the second in a family of four boys and four girls born to Jack and Edith Ackeral. She was raised and went to school in Big Valley, AB. She worked in the area as a housekeeper and telephone operator. While working at the Big Valley Co-op, she met the love of her life, Bill Cooke. They were married on Jan. 1, 1947 in St. Emanuel’s Anglican Church in Big Valley. They left the area for the wilds north of Rocky Mountain House, AB. There they began their lives together as well as starting their family which grew to include four boys and three girls. They lived in many different areas of Alberta as they followed work in the oil industry. They finally settled in Erskine, AB in 1969. Daisy’s life was centred around her family. She was also an active volunteer with the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary as well as many other groups. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Jim Timmins, son Eddy Cooke, husband Bill Cooke, brothers Denis and Alex. She is survived by her daughters Judene Anderson, Shannon Timmins (Murray Beer), Dale (Duane) Bauman; sons Roddy Cooke, Ken Cooke, Wes (Myrta) Cooke; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; Archie (Sandy) Cooke; sisters Nellie Pike, Isabelle Henningsmoen, Patsy (Jack) Mills; brothers Ronnie Ackeral, Freddie (Wanda) Ackeral; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held at the Erskine I.O.O.F. Hall on Sept. 3, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mark Osborne officiating. Wes Cooke gave a loving tribute of his mother to those in attendance. She was laid to rest in the Erskine Cemetery beside her husband Bill; her grandchildren were honorary pallbearers. Family and friends gathered after the interment for fellowship and refreshments served by the Erskine U.C.W.
