Claire GREENLEE

December 4, 2008

Greenlee - Claire Armstrong (affectionately known to all as Casey) of Okotoks, AB formerly of Stettler, AB passed away at the age of 89 on Dec. 4, 2008. He will be truly missed by his sons Allan (Bev) and Greg both of Calgary, AB, daughter Colleen (Miles) of Okotoks. Along with his loving grandchildren Christie, Cora-Lee, Colin, Thad, Jenise and Aimee; also his brother Harold of Westbank, B.C. and several nieces and nephews. Casey was predeceased by his wife Alice in 2004, daughter Susie in 2002, as well his brother Lloyd and sister Kathleen. Born Jan. 2, 1919 to Roy and Annie, Casey was raised and schooled in Botha, AB. He joined the army where he served as a decoder that took him on a 32 month tour through England, Sicily, Italy and Northern Europe during WW II with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. After that, Casey settled in Stettler, married Alice Fleming in 1950 and was employed with National Supply for a number of years. He then became the owner of the Pool Hall, where some of his many talents shone through, be it at a game of pool or friend to all that came through the door. After retirement, Casey and Alice moved to Okotoks to be closer to their family in 1992. Throughout his life, Casey was active in sports at various levels including baseball and hockey (he loved those Habs!), but his main passion was curling, where his rink acquired numerous championships. He also had a wonderful knack for gardening which gave him much enjoyment. Speaking of enjoyment, dare we not mention Bingo and from that, all the close friendships that were formed. A celebration of Casey’s life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 with a Come and Go gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Peters Anglican Church, 31 Riverside Way, Okotoks, AB. Interment of Casey’s urn will follow at a later date at the Woodland Cemetery, Botha, AB with friends and family most welcome as well. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to The Calgary Poppy Fund, #1, 4539 – 6th Street N E, Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6.
