BERGSTROM

Carolyn Alexandria

Oct. 6, 1942 - Mar. 26, 2010

With great sadness we announce the passing of Carolyn following a brief illness. Carolyn was born in Edberg, Alberta and grew up on farms in the Meeting Creek area. She attended schools in Edberg and Meeting Creek. She was granted scholarships to the Nursing Faculty at the University of Alberta. She graduated with an honour degree in nursing and practiced her profession continuously in various towns and cities in Alberta and the United States until the birth of her first child, Alexandria. She was generous to a fault. Family always came first. She helped her brothers and sisters and her parents in any way she could. As soon as she had money she bought her parents their very first bedroom set. She did volunteer work for various charities and for the Catholic Church. Travel was in her blood. Soon after graduating she bought herself a pretty dress, packed her bags and flew to Europe for a holiday. Later she visited many European countries and capitals, absorbing their history and culture. A new destination was always on the horizon. She loved nature and photography and walking on the ocean beaches looking for shells and driftwood. She was a self taught expert in antique furniture and a talented home decorator. To mourn her passing she leaves her daughter Alexandria (Tony Batchelor) Dillon, her son Thomas (Jennifer) Dillon, her elder sister Marcella (John) Miller and her younger brothers and sisters: Ken (Judy) Borgstrom, Uni (Peter) Hanley and Bob (Cheryl) Borgstrom; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Carolyn's family wish to express their deeply felt gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Bashaw Valley Lodge for their love and support during the later years of Carolyn's life. Also to the staff of Unit 21 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their care and compassion during her last days. A private family Funeral was held at the Edberg Lutheran Church on April 5th, 2010. Interment followed in the Meeting Creek Cemetery. In this early spring we wish you, dear Carolyn, a swift, sweet and beautiful journey home. God bless. We will miss you.
