1938- 2011

Mr. Carl John Nemetz passed away with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the age of 72 years. He is survived by his wife Tiny (Rose Marie), children Loretta (Laurie) Borden of Leduc, AB, Carol (Grant) Charpentier of Sooke, BC, grandchildren Derek Borden, Ryan (Elizabeth) Charpentier, Amanda Charpentier and Nicole Borden, his siblings May McLean, Shirley (Bill) Mappin, Larry (Ellen) Nemetz, Ruth De Neve (Dan), Darlene Nemetz, Sharon Nemetz (Lorne Deems) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many special friends. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Ada, sister Eunice (Ed) Lindstrom, brother-in-law Herb McLean, brother Art Nemetz, sister Joey (Jim) Abel and brother Dave Nemetz. Carl was born on June 24, 1938 in Big Valley, Alberta and grew up near Byemoor. He attended school in Byemoor and then worked at Usher Ranch hauling hay. Carl worked for the Government of Alberta building roads for a few years. He also worked on the farm for John and Ernie Petrussa for several years. Carl married Tiny Trout in August of 1959. Their eldest daughter Loretta was born in 1960 and in 1962 their daughter Carol was born. In 1979, Carl and Tiny went farming on their own in the Byemoor/Big Valley area. They were able to farm right up until 1999 when Carl's cancer prevented him from continuing with his passion for farming. Carl and Tiny then moved into the Stettler area where they have resided for many years. A funeral service for the late Carl Nemetz was held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Susan Bowyer of the Big Valley United Church officiating. Mrs. Lori Reule sang a solo and also accompanied the congregational hymns. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Carl, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Red Deer, the Stettler Health Services Foundation or a charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
