BERNES

Bruce Wayne

1946 - 2012

Mr. Bruce Wayne Bernes of Stettler, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the age of 65 years. Bruce was born in Edmonton on July 7, 1946. It was not long after, that the family moved and made Calgary their home. At the age of 18 years, Bruce joined the Navy and began the first of many lifetime experiences. In years to follow, he apprenticed and became a journeyman electrician and worked in Calgary and surrounding communities for years. He also spent many years living and working in the Radium area and really loved going to the hot springs. Bruce very much enjoyed camping with family and friends. Every chance he got he would pack up and head to Bragg Creek or the beauty of the Kananaskis area to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. In the last ten years or so, Bruce settled in Stettler to be closer to his sisters and brothers. He was a kind and generous person who loved his family very much. He would give you anything he had if he thought you might need it. He made friends easily and always had an easygoing manner that really made you feel welcome. His passing will leave a void in the lives of many. Bruce is survived by his son Kerry (Jennifer) Bernes of Lethbridge and by his daughter Karen (Pat) Crozier of Calgary; four grandchildren Jessica and Tessa Bernes and Christine and Kimberly Crozier and one great grandson Alexander. He is also survived by his siblings Donna (Ernie) Beesley of Calgary, Terry Schmitt of Seattle, Linda Jones of Olds and Brian (Diane) Bernes of Stettler, brother-in-law Per Rasmussen of Stettler and the mother of Bruce's children Shirley Bernes as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Holgar and Katherine Bernes, sister Bernice Ayres, brother Edward Bernes and most recently by his sister Dianna Rasmussen. A time of remembrance took place at the family home on Saturday, March 31, 2012. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Bruce, memorial contributions may be made to S.T.A.R.S Air Ambulance in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
