January 19, 1929 - October 1, 2018
Bill Pochylko came to Canada in 1929 at three months of age from the Ukraine with his parents Stefan and Mary (Kusa) Pochylko. Bill was born January 19, 1929 and passed away October 1, 2018. Once his father settled them in Stettler County, Bill lived there all his life. He had several businesses: the Pool Hall, a farm near Erskine, and finally, a construction company. Then, upon his retirement, he pursued mining interests. He was an outgoing man with many ideas and abilities who made life interesting for those around him. He will be missed.

A good father and husband, he was predeceased by his wife of 46 years Josie Roche Pochylko (d. 2001) and his partner of 16 years Anne Besanthal (d. 2017). He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Andy and Donald Pochylko.

Bill Pochylko is survived by his six children and their families. Catherine Girczyc (Richard Fraser d. 2001) of Vancouver and daughter Jessica Fraser; Anne Nixon (Terry) of Stettler and her children: Melissa Chapman and her children: Vienna, Trinity and Trajan; Sheena Nixon, and Kathleen (Devan) Shanks and her children: Violet and Azalea; David Pochylko of Saskatoon and sons: Kyle and Ryan; Margaret Maron (Dale d. 2015) of Stettler and children: Paul (Kim) and children Aiden, Charlotte and Bennett of Calgary; and Christina Maron of Edmonton; Sheila DesRoches of Calgary and children: Allison Johnston (Jeremy) and children Jacoby and Felix of Charlottetown PEI; and Joshua DesRoches of Calgary; Timothy (Sandra) Pochylko of Wainwright and children: Connor and Rainna.

Funeral services were held at Stettler Funeral Home on October 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ross Helgeton officiating. Daughter Catherine gave a loving tribute and several of the family's favorite music was played. Grandson Josh DesRoches served as pallbearer as Bill was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery. Family and friends gathered in the Heartland Reception Centre for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by Sue Giesbrecht and her staff.
