HILL

Bernice Anne (Fenelon) Hill was born August 24, 1925 at Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Nora and John Fenelon; she took her schooling and grew up in the same area. During WWII she was a member of the Women’s Army Corp and was stationed in Edmonton where she met George Edward Hill. They were married in Sioux Lookout and had two children Lyle and Margaret while they lived in Medicine Hat. They also lived in Vulcan and Calgary before moving to Stettler in 1957; George passed away in 1967 and Bernice called Stettler home until the mid 90’s. She worked in Lawrence’s for many years, while George was office manager for McTaggart Motors; they both were active the Legion and the Stettler United Church, later she became involved in the senior centre. Bernice moved to Red Deer to be closer to family and lived there until her health failed when she moved to the Bethany Centre in Sylvan Lake until her passing. She is survived by her children Lyle (Christina) Hill of Rocky Mountain House and Margaret Hill of Red Deer; 2 grandchildren Marlana (Trevor) Bauer and Darren Bauer; 4 great grandchildren Brodie, Blake, Jonathan and Paul; brother Gordon (Rita) Fenelon of Sioux Lookout, Ontario and two sisters Lenore Hooker of Cambridge, Ontario and Valerie (Emile) Paul of Winnipeg, Manitoba; other family members and friends. Predeceased by her husband George Edward Hill, grandson Paul Lindsay and six brothers. Funeral services were held at Stettler Funeral Home on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Father Don Stein officiating. Lyle Hill gave the Eulogy. Interment was held at Lake View Cemetery where Bernice was laid to rest with her husband George Hill.
