NEMETZ – Arthur Chester passed away gently after his long battle with leukemia at Southwood Care Hospice in Calgary, AB on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at the age of 62. Art was born on May 10, 1946 in Stettler, AB. He was the ninth of 10 children of Charles and Ada Nemetz of Byemoor, AB. He took his formal education in Byemoor and graduated from William E. Hay High School in Stettler. He went on to achieve Master Partsman. Art married Darlene Cox of Alliance, AB on Dec. 14, 1968 and had three sons. Art enjoyed hockey, football, camping and most of all fishing. You could find him at the lake and ponds around the County of Stettler trying to catch the Big One. Art was also very involved as a volunteer in the minor sports that his three sons played. Art was predeceased by his sister Eunice Lindstrom, his father Charles J. Nemetz, and his mother Ada E. Nemetz (nee-Jones). He leaves in mourning his beloved wife Darlene Nemetz of Stettler; his three sons: Dean, his wife Jody and children Riley, Ruby and Cooper Nemetz of Saskatoon, SK; Stacy, his wife Joy and children Hailee and Karl Nemetz of Fort McMurray, AB; and Anthony, his wife Anna and daughter Téa Nemetz of Dashi, Taiwan; his sisters and brothers: Joy Abel, Dave Nemetz, May Maclean, Shirley Mappin, Carl Nemetz, Larry Nemetz, Ruth DeNeve, and Sharon Nemetz; his numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home.
