GEBHARDT
Mr. Andrew Gebhardt passed away suddenly February 19, 2011 at the age of 50 years. He was born in Castor on March 5, 1960 to Helmut and Emma Gebhardt and was the third born of four children. He attended Donalda School till grade 9 and graduated from WM E Hay High School in 1978.
Some of the places he worked at included Alberta Transportation, Sedco Drilling, and Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1989 he started at Manalta, which is now Prairie Mines, where he has remained for the last 22 years, operating a variety of equipment, with his bid job being Grader Operator. He really enjoyed his job and his fellow crew members. Andrew married Brenda Muhlbeier in Castor at the Lutheran Church on August 16, 1986 and resided there until 1988, then moving to Edmonton for two years until they returned to the Gebhardt family farm in 1989, where they took up farming and purchased the farm from his parents a few years later. Two children were born, Jarrett in 1990 and Melissa in 1992. Andy loved the outdoors, his road vehicles and off road vehicles, and spent as much time as he could participating in these activities with his close friends and neighbours and his family. There were camping, quad and sled trips around the neighbourhood or out to the mountains at every opportunity that he could manage to get away from the farm. He had a unique sense of humour and was always up for playing a practical joke on his friends. As Jarrett grew older, they spent a lot of time together, rebuilding engines, doing repairs, and eventually working together at Prairie Mines on the same crew. Melissa was daddy's little girl, and no matter how stubborn he was, she could always persuade him to change his mind to her perspective.
Andy leaves to mourn his loving wife Brenda Gebhardt of Donalda; daughter Melissa Gebhardt; parents Emma and Helmut Gebhardt; mother in law Lee Muhlbeier; sister Linda (Douglas) Lavoie; brother Carl (Yvonne) Gebhardt, brothers and sisters in law Robert (Marilyn) Muhlbeier, Kenneth Muhlbeier, Wayne Muhlbeier, Fred Muhlbeier, Darcy (Tracy) Muhlbeier, Judith (Larry) Pals, Carol (John) MacNeil, Dianne (Pat) Page; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends and co-workers. Andy was predeceased by his brother Tim Gebhardt and by his father in law Frank Muhlbeier. Funeral Services were held at the Stettler Community Hall on Monday February 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Karl Faltin of St. Peter Lutheran Church officiating. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Andy, memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund in Brenda and Melissa's name or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the Stettler Funeral Home, Box 1780, Stettler, Alberta T0C 2L0
