SIEBEN - Aloysia Sieben passed away peacefully June 21, 2008 at the Stettler Health Care Centre with her family at her side at the age of 79 years. Loy, the fourth of 19 children, was born Feb. 6, 1929 at Macklin, SK to John and Pauline Stang. She spent her early years on the farm near Macklin and as a teenager moved with her family to a farm near Rosalind, AB. She married Leo Sieben on July 6, 1953 and together they raised eight children. They lived in St. Gregor, Denzil and Rosetown in the province of Saskatchewan before moving to Stettler, AB where Loy resided for 36 years until her passing. Family was very important to Loy and her marriage to Leo was a model of love, loyalty and commitment. She was kind, gentle and giving and was a gracious hostess to any and all visiting family and friends. Loy had many interests and passtimes. She loved to sing and enjoyed traveling, golfing, curling, dancing, playing cards and bingo. She also gave of her time and talents to her church and community. Loy was actively involved in the life of Christ-King Catholic Parish and recently received her 60 year pin from the C.W.L. She was a leader in the Cub Scouts when her sons were young, she delivered Meals On Wheels for many years and she was a long time member of the Royal Purple. Beneath the quiet voice and gentle manner, Loy was a pillar of strength. She faced her illness as she did every challenge in her life with quiet dignity and courage born of a deep and abiding faith in God. Loy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leo Sieben of Stettler, children Joan Sieben (John LaRose) of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Rita (Dennis) Robertson of Rocky Mountain House, Janet (Jim) Zemlak of Calgary, AB, Don (Hanna) Sieben of Ardrossan, AB, Tony (Rachel) Sieben of Vancouver, B.C., Sandra Sieben (Mike Maki) of Rocky Mountain House, Chris (Sharyle) Sieben of Doha, Qatar and Jason Sieben of Red Deer, AB. Grandchildren Melissa Sieben, Jesse, Scott and Patrick Robertson, Ashley and Chelsey Zemlak, Paulina, Erick, Julia and August Sieben, Daniel Edwards and Olivia, Carter and A.J. Sieben, as well as many other relatives and many very dear friends. The funeral mass was held on June 25, 2008 at the Christ-King Catholic Church with the Rev. Arlan Parenteau as celebrant. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in care of Brennen Funeral Home (2001) Ltd., P.O Box 193, Stettler, AB TOC 2LO who were entrusted with the care and arrangements.
