February 7, 1943 - April 6, 2025
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts and deep grief we announce that our precious father, grandfather and great-grandfather Allen was called home to the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by family. Allen was 82 years young.
Allen was born in Big Valley, Alberta, and raised nearby on the OVT Ranch with wide open spaces and hills for miles, living a cowboy's life, and came to be known as 'Butch' by all the Webster cousins.
Sylvia Jacobson became Allen's bride on October 6, 1962. They were hard workers who built a solid life together, complementing each other's strengths, and raising Lori and Larry in Stettler. After the kids graduated, Allen and Sylvia moved to Red Deer, then Edmonton, and eventually to Leduc County upon retirement where they were back living in the country alongside Lori and family.
All those who knew Allen appreciated his zest for life, interest in people and love for community. He was a businessman and entrepreneur, starting many different ventures including AllenDale Services (automotive), gravel hauling, mobile grain cleaning, and ultimately Score Valves (in partnership with Kurt Fiegel), which today manufactures specialty high performance butterfly valves for the resource sector and notably NASA and SpaceX.
When Sylvia was heaven-sent in July 2013, Allen started his twilight chapter when he reconnected with family friend Merrilyn Cummerford, whom he married July 16, 2016. They were an adventurous couple, enjoying numerous winters down south, camping and golfing in the summers. Allen loved her family as his own and became a second father to George (Jackie) and Brad, and grandpa/great-grandpa to their children. Merrilyn passed away suddenly December 15, 2024. She was dearly beloved and missed. Allen was also pre-deceased by his parents Lloyd (1986) and June Webster (2010), his loving wife Sylvia of 51 years (2013), and brother Doug Webster (2013).
Allen is survived by his son Larry Webster (Sheila), daughter Lori Hiller (Collin) & their families, sister Joan Weder (Bob), and numerous other family members on Webster, Burford and Jacobson side.
Allen will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his spirit and all the things he taught us like a solid handshake upon greeting, interest and time invested in others, commitment to family and community, generosity, faith, and ultimately respect and appreciation for family heritage and days gone by. He is one of the last of the generation of the classic gentleman.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Leduc Fellowship Church (4401 Rollyview Rd, Leduc, AB).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Allen to the Canadian Cancer Society.
