James Alexander Milne was born April 15, 1941 to Charlie and Louise Milne in Virden, Manitoba. He was the eldest of five children.

At the age of 18 years old, he went to Winnipeg to start work and attend tech school.

In 1962, he obtained his mechanic's ticket and that started his career with International Harvester after moving to Edmonton.

He met his first wife, Valerie in Edmonton and they were married October 10, 1964.

Alex took a brief break from International Harvester and moved him and Valerie back to Virden to go farming and he also owned a Shell Bulk Station.

While in Virden, their family was born, daughter Heather, sons Grant and Cameron.

In 1977 Alex moved his family to Stettler to start his life long dream of owning his own farm equipment dealership. Heartland Equipment Group was his passion and he loved his employees, his customers and he loved to work.

In May 2002, Alex married his Love, Gloria. They have had an awesome life and travel was a huge part of their life.

In 2009, Alex sold his business and was able to reap the rewards of all his hard work and leadership.

Alex's true happy place was Yuma, Arizona. He loved every minute he was in Yuma and was able to spend the winter there for the last 30 plus years.

Alex was an active key member of the Masonic Lodge.

Alex passed away on December 12, 2017 in Yuma, Arizona.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Gloria; his three children: daughter Heather, her husband Wade and their three children Payton, Quinn and Alexa; son Grant and his children Spencer and Avery; son Cameron, his wife Nancy and their children Emma and Ty; brother Murray and his children Todd and Erin and their families; sister Wendy and husband David and their children Kendra and Dylan and their families.

He also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their families: Graeme & Patty, Gary, Carole, Tim & June and Marion.

Alex was predeceased by his mom and dad Louise and Charlie Milne; brothers John and Ken; his first wife Valerie; sisters-in-law Edna and Sandy; Valerie's parents Harold and Mary Button and his mother and father in law Lloyd and Bernice Greenlee.

A celebration of Alex's life was held on December 20, 2017 in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta with Bill Bonner leading the service.
