Mrs. Alberta Lucille Pennington of Stettler passed away in Red Deer on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Alberta Lucille Corrigan was born on February 25, 1930 in Red Deer to Herbert and Esther Corrigan. She started school at Valley Centre which was east of Red Deer and then went on to attend grades 9 through 12 in Red Deer. Lucille graduated from high school in 1948 and started working at the Bank of Montreal in Red Deer as a stenographer. She was married to Allan Pennington in Red Deer in June of 1952. After getting married, the new couple bought a farm south of Veteran. In 1960 they then bought a farm south east of Erskine and moved there. In the fall of 1993 after many wonderful years on the farm, they sold and moved into Stettler where they made their home until together moving into the Heart Haven Lodge in 2004. Lucille curled for several years in Erskine and was the treasurer of the Erskine United Church. In the mid 70's, she worked for 4 or 5 years at the Stettler Independent Annual Fall Doll contest. She enjoyed doing this and loved meeting new people. She also kept very busy going to Bingo and went on several Casino bus tours. Most of all Lucille loved her family and truly enjoyed visiting with her many friends. A memorial service was held at the Stettler United Church on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Debbie Stockdale officiating. Her son Stan Pennington shared the families treasured memories of Lucille and Evelyn Strandquist accompanied the hymns 'In The Garden' and 'How Great Thou Art'. As an expression of sympathy and in memory of Lucille, memorial contributions may be made to the Erskine United Church, the Stettler United Church or to the Stettler Health Services Foundation - Dialysis Unit in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
