Deeply rooted in the fertile farming area of Endiang, local Drumheller-Stettler MLA Jack Hayden said he was honoured to become the new Alberta minister of agriculture and rural development.

On Jan. 15, at about 11 p.m, police responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence in the east area of the County of Stettler. The 40-year- old resident Michael Allan Seyer was arrested at the scene.

A man was handed a hefty fine of over $2,000 in Stettler Provincial Court on Jan. 11 for several counts of possession of stolen property in his mother’s garage in Stetttler in August 2008.

Almost $175,000 of funding was announced for recreation facilities in the County of Stettler under various groups and projects.

A special informational sign to commemorate the original site of the hamlet of Endiang in 2010 is being considered by the County of Stettler as the hamlet celebrates its centennial this year.

For the month of January, Stettler RCMP detachment and Traffic Services will focus on intersection safety. Police remind drivers that while intersections can be dangerous, they can takes steps to avoid collisions.
