A floodway in the Town of Settler appears to be smaller than a report indicated in 2004. At its regular meeting Nov. 2, town council heard the findings of the new report completed by River Engineering Consulting of Edmonton that outlines the floodway and flood fringe in the Red Willow Creek area.

Strong positive partnerships between the County of Stettler and the Town of Stettler highlight an updated draft inter-municipal development plan (IDP) that was presented at an open house Oct. 26 at Stettler Community Hall.

Jeremy Wyatt Bitzer was fined $1,000 for driving a vehicle with over the 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood in Stettler on Sept. 24 with a reading of 100 mg. and prohibited from driving for one year.

Outstanding citizens and businesses of the Stettler region were honoured as Stettler Board of Trade and Community Development hosted its annual Citizen of the Year and Business Awards Night on Oct. 22 at Stettler Community Hall.

A new clothing store, a safety business and a major chain store have arrived in the Stettler area.

Parents and residents will get an opportunity to share their vision of education as Clearview School Division will host a series of community consultations across its region in November to develop a strategic plan.

More residential development – including affordable housing – has been proposed for the Town of Stettler.
