Wintry road conditions affect QE2 near Leduc

Several vehicles in ditch due to icy patches

Wintry road conditions may have been the cause of several vehicles in the ditch on the QE2.

Emergency crews were called the scene on the QE2 south of Leduc at about 2 pm Saturday afternoon. It appears several vehicles landed in the median and it’s not known if there were any injuries although police and fire crews were on scene.

At the time there was blowing snow along the highway, which was mostly wet due to the warmer weather. That portion of highway did have some icy patches.

The southbound lanes were affected the most as crews were parked in the fast lane to deal with the incident. There were also several vehicles in the ditch before and after the collision.
