Even though a lot of events were happening in town, people travelled from near and far to hear Wildrose party leader Brian Jean speak at the dinner fundraiser held at the Stettler Agriplex on Saturday evening, April 9.

With over 200 people attending the event, the fundraiser was considered a success by organizers.

Brian Jean spoke about the current government and what he described as the shortcomings he and his party are already seeing.

"It seems Notley hasn't taken stress well, she already looks 20 years older," said Jean as the audience burst into laughter. "I've actually heard situations where she has walked into a Tim Horton's, and has been booed and had to leave without a cup of coffee."

Jean had been in meetings all day with mayors and town and county officials discussing provincial needs, with the day culminating with the fundraiser.

The audience seemed to be listening to Jean in rapt attention for most of his speech.

"I feel sorry for her not because of our ideological differences, but I feel sorry for her because she is far out of depths and she doesn't know what she is doing," said Jean of Premier Notley. "And that's because she never expected to get elected, she never prepared to get elected and so she never thought about what would happen if she did get elected and as a result we are in one of the worst economic conditions that we've ever had in Alberta."
