A grocery-store chain with a business in Castor announced a pair of winners in their latest annual contest.

The A.G. Foods grocery chain has been running the “Great Grocery Giveaway” across all 51 of their stores in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan annually over the last several years.

Every store is guaranteed at least one winner; one shopper from each store can win a 50-second, $500 shopping spree in the store.

The winner of this prize was announced Feb. 22, and the Castor winner was Doreen Peterson.

However, as part of the contest A.G. Foods was offering six prizes of free groceries for a year to lucky shoppers.

As it happens, one of these six was also another Castor resident, Arlene Charette. Charette won 52, $100 gift certificates to be used in the Castor A.G. Foods store over the next year.

In an added twist, not only are both winners from Castor, but they are also next-door neighbours.

Castor Magnet A.G. Foods owners Ducky and Jin Sung presented both winners with their prizes on Mar. 2.
