A warrant was issued for the arrest of Richard Mackay of Alix by Stettler Provincial Court Judge K.L. Rostad on Thursday, Feb.24 for failing to appear in court.

MacKay was arrested last year on two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats, but was later released.

A warrant was also issued for the arrest of Robert Foster, formerly of Big Valley, for failing to appear in court. Foster was arrested for committing four traffic offences: driving an uninsured car on the highway, driving carelessly, failing to report damage and driving/parking a motor vehicle/trailer without a license plate and was released to appear in court later.

Janine Dalueg of Stettler was fined $1,600 and is prohibited from driving for one year. On Dec. 24 last year, Dalueg was stopped on Highway 56 when her car was spotted weaving between the lanes, at the time she didn’t have a driver’s license and couldn’t walk on a straight line. Her blood alcohol level was 0.210 per cent. She pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding 0.160. “Don’t drive again until you get a license,” warned Judge Rostad.

Naomi McGregor of Stettler was fined $600 for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. On Aug. 20, 2010, McGregor struck the side of the Liquor Barn building on 50 Avenue with her pink car. Witnesses took note of the car’s license plate and called the RCMP. The RCMP located the car at McGregor’s home and the damages on the car were consistent with hitting the side of a building. McGregor admitted hitting the building with her car to the RCMP and pleaded guilty in court.

Justin Whynott of Bashaw, was fined $400 for failing to comply with his probation. According to the terms of his probation, he was to get addiction counseling and not drink for one year. In his defense, Whynott said that he had been working and that he could not get time off to get counseling.
