Two firearm offences in a week

On Jan. 15, at about 11 p.m, police responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence in the east area of the County of Stettler. The 40-year- old resident Michael Allan Seyer was arrested at the scene.

On Jan. 15, at about 11 p.m, police responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence in the east area of the County of Stettler. The 40-year- old resident Michael Allan Seyer was arrested at the scene. At the conclusion of the investigation, the male was charged with unsafe storage of a firearm and failing to comply with a probation order wherein he was not to possess firearms. He was remanded in custody for a bail hearing in Red Deer Provincial Court on Jan. 18.

Police stopped a vehicle along 50 Avenue in Stettler on Jan 17. at about 2:30 a.m. for a traffic violation. The 41-year-old male driver, a resident of the County of Stettler was arrested. Police seized drug paraphenalia, a quantity of cash and what is believed to be a 1943 Russian PPSH .45 calibre machine gun and ammunition. The investigation continues with one aspect being to determine if the firearm is deactivated or operational. The driver was issued documents compelling him to appear in Stettler Provincial Court on March 11 to enter a plea to a charge of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
