Three people charged in a number of Halkirk-area thefts will be going to trial.
Murray Peters, Jesse McLeod and Jacqueline Hinse appeared in Alberta Provincial Court in Stettler on Thursday, Aug. 25 for their second appearance on the charges.
The three had appeared two weeks prior but had asked for the courts to grant a brief stay so McLeod could attempt to secure counsel. Peters and Hinse had already done so. At the time, all three pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Peters appeared via CCTV from Red Deer remand centre, while Hinse and McLeod attended in person in court. There, McLeod said he had been unable to secure a lawyer and would represent himself at court.
McLeod said he was unable to afford a lawyer and his attempts to secure legal aid had been unsuccessful.
The trial date, which is set for a full day, has been scheduled for March 20 in Stettler.
