In alignment with the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all playgrounds in the Town of Stettler will be closed, effective immediately. This includes the structures at the following locations:

• Emmerson Playground - 6019-55th Ave.

• Kinsmen Tot Lot - 4701-52nd St.

• Parkdale Playground - 5711-44th Ave.

• Grandview Playground - 6005-41st Ave.

• Meadowlands Playground - 4208-66th St.

• Kinsmen Playground - 6001- 50th A Ave

• East End Viking Park - 4813-45th St.

• West Stettler Playground - 4601-62nd St.

This was a difficult decision to make, and we acknowledge that this closure may be disappointing to our residents, noted a release.

The Town of Stettler would like to assure that these closures were identified as an essential measure to protect our community and help eliminate high-contact areas.

“Although the play structures and equipment at all Town of Stettler playgrounds will be restricted, we would like to remind residents that our walking trails, green spaces, and dog parks will remain open.

“We encourage our residents to take advantage of these facilities and ensure that outdoor recreation and exercise is maintained. When using these areas, we ask our residents to avoid contact with touch points such as garbage cans, benches and handrails.

“We also urge residents to observe the social distancing and hygiene measures recommended by Alberta Health Services.”

These measures include:

• Keep at least 6 ft. (the length of a bicycle) between yourself and others.

• Avoid overcrowding in enclosed spaces.

• Wash or sanitize your hands after touching communal surfaces.

The Town of Stettler will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and take necessary precautions as they arise.
