The Town of Stettler will have a new chief administrative officer (CAO) beginning in August.
Council appointed Leann Graham to the position during the May 16 council meeting.
Graham will be replacing long-time CAO Greg Switenky, who is retiring in August after many years serving the community.
“Leann has been a key member of this organization from the day she started,” said Mayor Sean Nolls.
“Throughout her career, we have seen her continually strive to enhance her education and tackle new challenges, and her leadership skills have advanced year after year. She has the ability and willingness to bridge gaps and build relationships with her colleagues and community partners, and that is crucial for any true leader.”
Graham has been with the Town of Stettler for 15 years and currently serves as the municipality’s director of Planning and Development. As far as education goes, Graham is certified in Applied Land Use and Planning, has the National Advanced Certificate for Local Authority Administrators, and holds her Certified Local Government Manager designation.
“It has been a pleasure to develop my career and grow professionally at the Town of Stettler, and I will always appreciate the leadership, opportunities, and friendship that I have gained from working alongside CAO Switenky,” said Graham.
“I am passionate about this town, I was born and raised here and I have chosen to build my life and raise my family in Stettler.”
The chief administrative officer is made through bylaw; Bylaw 2162-23 passed all three readings during the May 16 meeting confirming Graham to the role effective Aug. 30, 2023.
In addition to the chief administrative officer appointment bylaw, a separate bylaw outlining the CAO expectations and duties was also updated and passed.
