A motion passed on the Tuesday, Sept. 6 Town of Stettler council meeting to legally acquire a property that was tax-delinquent.

The property, located on 50 Ave. in Stettler, had the building upon it demolished by the town for health and safety reasons last year, after repeated attempts to settle the matter with the property owner brought the situation to court.

The property, now that it is seized, will be sold to recover the back taxes as well as the cost of demolition. Any money raised beyond those two debts will be ceded to the property's owner.

Praise for local athletesThe Stettler Bantam AA Scorpions and coaches joined the meeting where mayor and council congratulated the ball players on their Tier 5 championship win.

The group of players, their coaches and their parents were praised for their dedication to the sport as well as their excellent sportsmanship.
