The 40th annual Stettler Trade Show hosted by the Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development has been postponed to April 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2022.

The decision was made in accordance with current Alberta Health measures in relation to the ongoing pandemic.

“We possibly could have had it, and we actually had received approval in order to host it,” said Donna Morris, projects manager with the Board of Trade, referring to earlier plans.

“But then with the numbers increasing in the area and the variants, and trying to make sure everyone stays safe - we could have continued with it but we still weren’t 100 per cent guaranteed that we would have been able to host it after all,” she said.

“So instead of having our vendors order in product that they would have ended up not being able to sell through the trade show, we just felt it was better to postpone it and save our vendors from those issues,” she said.

“We were quite torn - we do want to help our businesses promote themselves and keep going forward, but with safety in mind, that was also our main concern. We didn’t want to have an outbreak at the trade show or because of the trade show. We just felt it best to postpone it for now,” she said.

“We do want to thank the representatives from Alberta Health who have worked diligently aside us for months to attempt to allow this community event in spite of the ongoing uncertainty.”

Morris said that last year was actually supposed to mark the trade show’s 40th anniversary.

“We’ve postponed it twice now, so we are going to have one big shebang next year,” she said. “By that time, we will all be ready to party! We are going to have one big celebration - that is for sure.”

The annual Stettler Trade Show offers one-stop shopping with family fun for a reasonable price and helps vendors showcase their products and services to a variety of potential customers.

The show has been a well-attended annual event for 39 years in the Stettler area and as mentioned, this is the second time it has had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

“While it is truly unfortunate; we had to postpone this years’ tradeshow. After review, the board had the public’s health and safety in mind first and foremost. We look forward to the 2022 tradeshow with great excitement as it will be bigger and better than ever,” said Matt Dorsett, president.

Reservations for the 40th annual Stettler Trade Show will be open on June 1st.
