Have you ever wanted to participate in the Amazing Race but have missed out on all the opportunities to audition?

Well, your family doesn’t need to audition for this one. You can just participate! Thanks to several community partners, the Stettler Public Library is pleased to present The Amazing Race, Stettler-style.

You are probably wondering when this event will be taking place.

Call now because the Amazing Race is taking place tomorrow (Friday, July 24th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and you won’t want to miss out! Gather the family and think of a great team name, then call the Library at 403-742-2292 to register! This race is open to all ages but spaces are limited. We will send teams in different directions to make social distancing a snap and will sanitize surfaces in between teams.

Come out, have fun and stay safe!

The Amazing Race 2020 will be taking place in several locations around Stettler with a variety of community partners. Transportation of some kind such as bikes or a vehicle will give you an advantage.

Also bottles of water, sunscreen and snacks will make sure that you are energized to complete the challenges that will get you to the finish line.

The winning team gets the privilege of lifting the greatest trophy since the inception of the Stanley Cup; bragging rights for the entire town; your team picture plastered all over our Facebook page; and some Stettler Dollars that will allow to celebrate your victory at any fine establishment in this wonderful community or invest it in some Ghost Walk tickets and take the family on another fun outing!

Spots are still available for the first Ghost Walk on Saturday, July 25th at 9 p.m. with the cost being $10 per person. Because of social distancing issues, we will not be visiting the basement of the Stettler Hotel.

This also means that we can open up the Ghost Walk to all ages! Call the Library at 403-742-2292 to sign up!

Our next film in the Summer Classic Series is the western classic from 1969: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Join us on Aug. 3rd at 7 p.m. for this Oscar-award winning classic.

The Summer Classic films have free admission but donations are gratefully appreciated.

It is never too late to hop on board the Stettler Public Library’s Summer Reading Club.

There are two ways to win this year, one is by reading great books all summer long (well, until Aug. 21st to be more precise). This is good news if you are going to be away this summer, as long as you are a resident of Stettler or Stettler County you are eligible to enter, and you don’t have to be around all summer long as you can report your reading online from anywhere! The other way is by participating in the many activities that Megan and Reagan have planned for the summer, either virtually or in person.

Did someone mention prizes?

We have an assortment of ridiculously cool grand prizes including a Nintendo Switch Lite, Orion StarBlast Telescope, mini-projector, Sphero, sport scooter or Snap Circuits set, three of which will go to our top readers in each of three age categories.

On top of that, we will have a grand prize draw for participation over the summer and are doing weekly prize draws for participation in our online and live events.

This week we are sending congratulations out to Mayah our latest winner! She won a dinner at KFC and reusable water balloons courtesy of Crystal’s Crochet Club!
