After a pandemic caused delay, the Heartland Youth Centre (almost) annual Bowl for Kids was back in early March.
While only 27 of the 30 teams registered actually bowled, all fundraised for the centre and for the youth it supports.
As of April 20, a couple of pledges are still outstanding, according to Winnie Bisset, the centre’s director, but the total funds raised eclipse previous years.
In total, around $27,000 was raised for the centre.
The top business fundraising team was the Stettler KalTire team who raised $6,350.
For the non-business fundraising team, the top team was non other than a team made up of Stettler town councillors Sean Nolls, Gord Lawlor, Cheryl Barros and Wayne Smith who raised around $1,000.
The top youth fundraisers for Heartland Youth Centre were Ella Graham, Big and Little Sister match Jessie and Lily and siblings Henry and Olivia Turre.
Winning the best dressed team award was Snodgrass Shoppers Drugmart.
Bowl for Kids is just one of several fundraising events that takes place in the Stettler area during the course of a normal year.
The next major fundraiser, and the centre’s biggest of the year, will be taking place on June 4.
Heartland Youth Centre’s Awesome Auction fundraiser, this year featuring a roaring 20s theme, will be back for another year, complete with steak and lobster dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance.
Currently the event is already half sold out.
