The County of Stettler celebrated their 44th annual Community Service Awards on June 16th.
Celebrating in person after dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for two years, the 2022 edition of the awards were held in Byemoor.
Nominations for the awards opened earlier in 2022 for the 11 different awards.
Some of the notable winners from this year’s awards ceremony included Brian Buck, who won the Rochon Sands Hall and Recreation Association Community Service Award, and Karyn Tateson, who was presented with the Community Angel Caring Award which was presented by Doreen Nixon in acknowledgement of all Tateson’s work in the Byemoor and Endiang communities.
Cash Buchwitz was presented the Endmoor Youth Award, which was presented by John Fletcher of ATB Financial and Lenard Schofer of Sullivan Lake West Ag Society.
Richard Dabell won the Sullivan Lake West Ag. Society Community Service Award, and the Stettler Ag. Society Community Service Award went to Christine, Rocky, and the rest of the Ross family.
The Big Valley Ag. Society Community Service Award was presented to Allen Jacobson.
Mark Higgins received the Erskine Service Award for 18-years worth of commitment to the County of Stettler Regional Recreation Board and the Erskine Social Recreation Society.
Cheryl Malin, winner of the Donalda and District Ag. Society Community Service Award, Shaun Derr, Winner of the Botha Community Centre Lifetime Achievement Award, and Hayley Walgenbach, winner of the Botha Community Centre Youth Award, were unable to attend the event.
