Six local students received scholarships from the Augustana faculty of the University of Alberta in Camrose.
Chantel Helen Heier of Stettler, a first-year Bachelor of Science student, was awarded a total of $1,250 for an academic merit award, an athletic award for women’s basketball and a leadership award.
Rebecca Erin Gano of Stettler, a first-year Bachelor of Science student, received a $1,000 for an academic honours entrance scholarship funded by the Electro Tel Award to $900.
Luke Leibel, of Stettler, a second-year Bachelor of Science student, was awarded $750 for a leadership award funded by the Mark Hanson Memorial Award to $600.
Bettina Catherina Alder of Stettler, a third-year Bachelor of Science student, received a $600 athletic award in curling.
Brandan Jeffery Aspenes of Stettler, a first-year Bachelor of Science student, received a $500 academic merit award.
James Manalili Vallido of Stettler, a first-year Bachelor of Science student, was awarded $500 for an academic merit award.
These six Stettler students were among 336 students who received almost $440,000 in scholarships and awards as the faculty recognizes excellence in academics, fine arts, athletics, and leadership.
Augustana offers four-year bachelor degree programs in arts, management in business economics, music and science, and currently serving in its 99th year to provide students with undergraduate education.
