Stettler's Wm. E. Hay hosts Fine Arts evening

Stettler

All things fine arts were celebrated at the Stettler Performing Arts Centre on a blustery and snowy January evening.

Students from the Wm. E. Hay Fashion 9/10, Fashion 20/30 and the Theatre Arts programs showed off what they had been working on so far this year on Jan. 16.

In the foyer of the Performing Arts Centre, pottery and paintings of all types were on display; inside, a fashion show put on by the talented students started shortly after 7 p.m.

The highlight of the evening was the Fashion 10 Redesign Challenge, where students gave new life to old garments in increasingly creative ways.

Meanwhile, when the Fashion 20/30 students modelled, they were showing off originally created pieces of clothing.

The fine arts evening also served as a sneak preview for the Inspire Challenge, which will be hosted by Marvel College later this spring.

Wm. E Hay will be sending four teams to participate in the Inspire High School Fashion Challenge in Edmonton in May; each team will be challenged to create a daytime, evening and high fashion look for the challenge.

There were around 60 people in the audience for the 45-minute show.
